Be “In” when you are “Out”

In “Frozen Britain” many of us struggled to get into the office or indeed just get out of our driveways or make it across the un-gritted road!   As swathes of Britain were hit by fresh waves of snow, drivers faced treacherous conditions amid cutbacks in road gritting while rail or bus services buckled under the strain. And we are promised more of the same by the men at the Met Office.   The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) claims that bad weather over the past few weeks has brought the economy to a standstill.  It estimates that the snow-induced commercial paralysis cost the UK economy at least £600 million a day.

Many businesses could be losing out simply because there’s no-one in the office to take the incoming sales calls.  For some businesses, that may not be too much of an issue because they list a mobile as their main business contact number, mainly because they are out and about a lot or work outside “normal” business hours.  But for many others, a fixed landline and number is an essential communications and marketing tool, not least because of cost, company IT integration issues and the fact that a mobile contact number somehow seems less “legitimate” for a business of substantial size.

That’s especially the case if you have an 0800 number to encourage your customers to contact you without them having to incur any telephone call costs.   Many companies also employ 0870 or 0845 non geographical numbers (NGN) to present a “national number” that confers credibility to any business, no matter where they are based.  It’s relatively easy and cheap to have those incoming calls redirected to a convenient mobile or other landline number for the duration of adverse weather, so you don’t need to change the main contact number in your promotional or sales literature.    Indeed many VoIP-based business telephone systems have features that will automatically and completely seamlessly redirect incoming calls on the established VoIP contact number to a pre-programmed mobile (or any other telephone handset or mobile device) after a set number of rings whether you use 0800 numbers or not.

Even if your business has multiple and differently named operations that share the same general contact number, you can still work as normal when you can’t reach the office with a virtual assistant package.  This identifies the inbound call from your client so you can greet the caller in the name of the company or division they expect to contact without the need to install additional telephone lines.  With all of these options, redirection is completely invisible to any caller, so you can continue to carry on business as usual and appear to be “in” even when you are “out”, no matter what Mother Nature may throw at us over the next few weeks!

3 Steps for Opening Your Car with Your Mobile Phone

Posted on 08/09/09 under News, Phone Services, No Comments

Every car owner in the world happens to lose their keys at one time or another. A personal story that I actually experienced only a few weeks back was the following.

I went out to a family wedding and my partner decided not to come along as she was not feeling too well, it was getting quite late into the evening and I decided to make my way home. By the time I got to the car I had noticed that I had mislaid my keys and silly me left my wallet sitting in the car. All of my money was literally stored in my wallet so I could not get the train home either.

Well I was pretty stuck to be honest, but I suddenly remembered something that I had heard on the radio that could have potentially worked. So I called my partner as she had a spare key sitting in the bedroom. I asked her to help me open the car so I could get my wallet; she simply did not have a clue what I was talking about. So I basically explained to her that these are the three steps we need to take.

Mobile Car

1) She placed the key next to the hand set she was speaking on; it had to be right next to the mouth piece otherwise it would not have worked.

2) I placed the phone right next to the sensor on the car, which was actually next to the sunroof.

3) I shouted out to my partner to press the unlock button.

Suddenly all I heard was a little click and the doors were open, I was actually quite shocked as I did not think this would work in the slightest. So all you need to remember next time you are locked out of your car are these three easy to use steps.

Or alternatively try not to lose your keys in the first place :-)

Cellphone Number Lookup Options

Posted on 07/09/09 under News, No Comments

Have you ever tried a free cell number look up service? If you have tried these type of services, then you should know that they are not always reliable. There are phone numbers that cannot be found in public directories, especially cell phone numbers. Phonebooks are quite effective in finding landline numbers, but don’t even think about trying to find a cell phone number with an old-fashioned phone book.

There are many reasons why a person may need to use a cell number lookup service; the most common of them being harassing phone calls and cheating spouses. A great majority of people now-a-days use cell phones, this is why it has become quite necessary to have a directory that will also show up cell numbers.

With the varied nature of the internet, it is fair to say that there are many different ways to conduct a reverse cell number look up.  One of the most common ways is to run a quick search in the search engines such as Google, Yahoo or Bing; although this is rarely effective, it is so easy it is well worth the effort.A reverse search can also be run using online directories.  Landlines are easily found in online reverse search directories; unfortunately, accurate cell number information is rarely found in public directories.  There are also paid reverse cell number look up directories available online, these are typically up to date and you can expect accurate results as long as you are willing to pay the small fee to access their private database.

When it comes to zero investment options, free websites can be a viable alternative; however they are by no means the best option to search for cell phone numbers online.

If you are looking to conduct a reverse cell number lookup it is in your best interest to check on the search engines first to see if you get a hit, check in white pages and directories hoping for an accurate match or save yourself the hassle and run a reverse cell number look up with a reliable and guaranteed service.
